Oldham Council recognises the work of the Oldham Enterprise Trust

The Carbon Trust will run a workshop on 25 October in Manchester to introduce small businesses to energy efficiency and its Green Business Fund capital grant programme.
The Carbon Trust’s Green Business Fund offers SMEs up to £10,000 capital contribution towards the cost of energy saving equipment, such as lighting, controls, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
The two-hour workshop will help businesses to identify opportunities to reduce energy costs and make the most of the Fund.
Elements of the workshop include:
- Understanding energy usage bills
- Reducing energy bills through behaviour change
- Implementing approaches to energy management
- Introducing key energy reduction and retrofit technologies
Companies across the North West have already benefitted from the Green Business Fund, such as manufacturers Alma Products, in Runcorn, and Sovereign Group, in Nelson.
Alma Products received £10,000 towards an LED lighting upgrade, while Sovereign Group received £2,700 to install a new heating controls system.
Applicants must have less than 250 employees to be eligible, and funding is currently limited to projects that pay back on initial investment in less than five years.
