Apprenticeships have often been a route for a lot of young people to get into work after school. In many respects, they provide the most accessible route for young people from all backgrounds to enter the world of work.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester has also committed to supporting a 16% increase in people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds starting apprenticeships. Apprenticeships provide great opportunities to help provide diversity within the workforce and feed into businesses’ talent pipelines.

However, since the government implemented the apprenticeship levy in April 2017 to help more companies to start providing apprenticeships within their workforce, there has been a 59% fall in the number of apprenticeship starts compared to the previous year. This workshop will look at how businesses can use the levy to provide growth opportunities within their businesses and hear how other employers are getting the most out of the levy funding.

Delegates will get a chance to:

  • Receive the latest updates on the apprenticeship landscape nationally and in Greater Manchester.
  • Hear case studies from businesses such as the BBC, who have adapted ways to ensure that they are still able to reach out to those young people furthest away from the job market.
  • Collaborate and share challenges and top tips around apprenticeships.
  • Learn more about the opportunities to get involved in Greater Manchester Talent Match and hear their legacy plans for the future.

Spaces at this workshop are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to attend, please sign up here to be added to the guest list.

Please note that by signing up to this workshop, you are happy for your details to be shared with both Business in the Community and Greater Manchester Talent Match. Your details will not be shared with other third-party partners.
